Fabulous February
February already! Your new GSDP Board held its first meeting in January and I am happy to report that board members were full of new and exciting ideas to make our Chapter the best ever. Three new committee chairpersons are on board. The first two fall under First Vice President, Glenda Mitchell; they are Mickey Hutchinson/Grants and Community and Helen Mahoney/Memory & Treasure Box’s. Paint-In/Seminar Chair, Tirzah Probasco, will be under 2nd Vice President Nancy Coley. To utilize our Past President's talents, Rebecca Chaffee will serve as Historian and head a committee who will study our Standing Rules and By-Laws.
Our goal this year is to have FUN, educate, have FUN, enhance creativity, have FUN, become more involved in the community, have FUN and increase our membership numbers. We will introduce some new activities along with or in addition to our regular Paint-ins and seminars. Be prepared for the unexpected.
In the works:
Web Site: We’re going to have a new web site. Our hard working Terry Pulver is busy studying and trying out trial programs to find the most appropriate one that allows us more flexibility and will relieve Terry a bit as she has some traveling plans and they don’t include her computer.
Golden Dollars: Chapter members can now earn Golden Dollars by participating in various Chapter activities. A complete list of Dollar points and how to spend them will be available at the February Paint-in. So to start things off right, bring a raffle gift to the February Paint-in and receive a Golden Dollar.
Mystery Paint-In: It’s a surprise. I’ll give you a hint - keep all day August 14th open.
Farmers Market: Community awareness and involvement is one of my main goals for this year. In discussing how to accomplish this we have been bantering ideas around about having a booth during Ogden’s Farmers Market, which runs from July to Oct. I think we can have a lot of fun with this and provide members with a venue to show and sell their wares. There will be more on this later.
Ugly Sweater Party: Be on the lookout for any ugly Christmas sweaters you can find between now and December 1st.
We are very concerned about Mary Jane Todd’s health and hope that she is on the road to recovery. If you didn’t know, we have postponed her spring seminar. We don’t have a new date yet, but as soon as we get the OK from her, we’ll let you know. In the meantime, Della Wetterman will be our Spring Seminar instructor. So block-out April 15th-17th, 2010 for this great seminar. Della is such a fun teacher. This is a three day seminar with two projects (see pictures). On Thursday and Friday we will paint the lunch pail, leaving the tray for Saturday. If you paid for Mary Jane’s seminar we will refund your money or you can apply it to Della’s as the teaching fee is the same.
If you have any suggestions for FUN, please let me know. I am very excited about the activities we have planned for this year.
May everyone enjoy a good and healthy month and Let’s Paint.
CarolAnn

The meeting was called to order about 10:15 AM by President Carol Ann Smith.. She welcomed the attendees.
She also voiced her concern about members signing up for classes and then not showing up for the class. She suggested an email reminder to the participants of the paint-ins. This will also be discussed at a later date.
Time was then turned over to Glenda who handed out the dyes, dye set, and resist to everyone. She then demonstrated how to apply the resist to the pattern on the silk scarf and after the resist dried she showed the class how to apply the dyes.
Everyone got busy painting and has a wonderful time learning to use a new painting medium and very different surface.
The class ended around 1:45 to 2:00 pm.
