2020 March Newsletter

Spring is almost here!!!  Time to paint more!

Thank you to everyone who attended my class, you were all too kind.  I promise to not to work you to hard next time and give everyone a bathroom break (sorry!).
Lydia's gourd class has been moved to May due to the Covid-19 virus.
We are still hoping to be able to have seminar with Carol Spohn in April. We will keep everyone posted.  I have really been looking forward to having Carol come. She teaches some beautiful watercolors and mixed media. See the newsletter for pictures and more information.
For everyone who as struggled with getting graphic lines off your work, “Liberty Odorless Brush Cleaner and Paint Thinner” may be the answer. Terry and Tirzah both says its the best thing they have ever found, but in the past it has been very hard to find. Last week Terry found it on Amazon. An 8 ounce bottle costs $19.97 plus tax ($1.45) and shipping of around $2.50. It's a bit expensive, but it last a long time if you only use it to take lines off.

NOTE: Pat found it at Holfcraft for really great price. An 8 oz bottle $3.67, 16 oz bottle $6.01, and 32 oz bottle $9.27.  Way to go Pat!!

Hope to see you at these events!
Helen

2020 Chapter Service Project
Every year the Chapter has supported worthy causes in our community. This year we will be supporting the local Food Bank and Catholic Community Services. The Chapter will collect money at paint-ins and seminars. Please be generous with your support. There is a lot of need out there. Thanks!

Raffles
This year we would like to ask all members to bring a NICE raffle item. You will receive two Christmas raffle tickets for your item. Painting supplies like palette paper, brushes, and tracing paper are always welcome as are nice wood or metal surfaces. Other items could include potted plants and candy. If you would like to receive it, it will probably make a good raffle item.

Christmas Raffles

This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having special raffle. It will be an signed original tin pitcher by John Dunn generously donated to the Chapter by Carol Hillier.  John painted in the Peter Ompir Style as well as his own style. His works can be found in museums, are highly prized buy collectors, and command high prices. This year's winner will be very lucky.

Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5.00. You do NOT have to be present to win.

April Carol Spohn Seminar
Carol's painting journey started in 1989 when she learned to paint with acrylics during her lunch hour at the law office where she worked. In 2000, she started painting primarily in watercolor.  Recently she began to add acrylics to her paintings along with collage. Since 2002, she has studied with many talented artists and says she is very grateful for the inspiration and knowledge she has gained from painting with other artists.
