2011 March Newsletter

Dear Painters,

It was great to go and good to be back from Las Vegas. The trade floor was packed with many new items including the use of texture with stencils and paint for painting on fabric. I have a catalog on these items if anyone is interested. Also, I have information on several new patterns and books.

Tirzah and I have been busy trying to find a teacher for the Fall Seminar and made several contacts, including an Oil Painter, at the Trade Show. A decision will be announced later.

Terry’s Lilac Plate and Candle Class was a hit and everyone went home with a finished piece.

This month Gloria will be teaching a Stationary Box with an Arlene Linton Pattern. There is still time to sign up.

I will teach a Summer Fruit Tray by Shara Reiner on April 30th. We had to change the date because of the Easter Holiday.

Please remember to bring an item for the "Food Drive" to class. Watch the expiration dates as they won’t take them if they have expired. (You will get one raffle ticket for each paint‑in not one raffle ticket per food item). This is a good project so please help us.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day and keep painting.

Until next month.

Nancy

2011 Chapter Service Project
Beginning in January, the Chapter will be starting a Food Drive as a new Community Service Project. Members are urged to bring items for the Food Bank to each Paint-in they attend. (See our Food Bank Donations Guideline page for information on acceptable items or go the the Utah Food Bank web site for more information.) In return for bring items, members will receive one free raffle ticket. There is a lot of need in these hard times, so we hope everyone will support this effort.

The class started at 10:10 am, Nancy reminded everyone of the new way of doing the raffle's this year. Instead of a several small items, we will have one nice ($15-$20) item. The winner one month will be responsible for providing the gift for the next month. We will try this for few months and see how people like it.

Helen was the lucky winner of a beautiful solar yard light owl donated by Eileen.

Nancy reminded everyone to bring in a canned good item for for our Food Drive Service Project to each Paint-in and receive a free raffle ticket.

She will be attending the Las Vegas Convention and is hoping to bring back a few new ideas.

The class was great, Terry is a very good teacher. Everyone enjoyed the class and completed their candles.

Class ended at 12:30 pm.
