 2022 June Newsletter

Hello Painters,

Can you brlieve the weather last month. Hot then cold, windy and dry and then rain (thank goodness) and snow for Memorial day. Hopefully June will be better.

Speaking of this month, Helen Mahoney will be teaching an Erika Joanne Quail Watercolor/Mixed Media. After the fun with Carol, we are looking forward to another watercolor experience.

In July the Chapter will be having a Red, White and Blue Summer Social Pot Luck at Tirzah Probasco house. It will a  All Members, past and present, are invited. If you know of any past Members please let Tirzah or myself know so that we can extend an invitation to them.

August will be our 3 day Fall Seminar with Heidi England. She will be teaching her Turkey Gobbler. Check the newsletter and seminar link for more information and pictures of this piece.

Christmas Raffles


This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having a special raffle. It will be large wooden Tine filled with lots of goodies, including pictures of ideas for painting or finishing your piece.

Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket. You do NOT have to be present to win.

Erika also uses very small rhinestones once the picture is dry and mounted.

NOTE: If you don't have some of the Jo Sonja colors or Prismacolor pencils, the teacher will have some to share.

Prep Instructions:
Ligltly transfer entire design to watercolor using gray graphite paper. Completely wet paper and while still damp, brush watered-down Mouse and completely cover paper. Sprinkle table salt in variouse places over the paper. Let set for a minute or two then pat dry. Do not remove salt yet. Dry completely. Wipe away the salt. Place paper under heavy book to flatten.


The Paint-in will be held at the Westwood Village Clubhouse (1111 N. 2000 W., Farr West, UT).Take I-15 #346 and go north on 2000 W/UT-126 0.6 of mile. The Clubhouse is on the west side of the street with parking on the west side of the building.

Red, White and Blue Summer Social Pot Luck
July 9th (Saturday) 11am


The Social will be held in Tirzah Probasco's back yard (116 W. 600 N., Clearfield, UT). Take 1-15 to exit #335 and go west onto 650 N., cross Main Street, take the next left onto James St., James St. turnes right and becomes 600 N. Tirzah's home is on the south side of the street.

Heidi England Seminar

Date:              August 23rd – 25th 
                       (Tuesday –Thursday) 9am – 3pm   
Cost:             $300

Cost includes wood for the Turkey, paints, pictures, instructions, lunches, etc.

Seminar: (There is a limit of 20 people for this seminar.) A $50 non-refundable deposit must be paid to hold your place in the class and allow for the wood to be ordered. The balance for the seminar must be paid when the patterns and wood are picked up. All checks should be made out to Golden Spike Decorative Painters and mailed 470 W. 4900 S., Ogden, UT 84405.

The Seminar will be held at the Riverdale Senior Center 4433 S. 900 W. in Riverdale. Directions: Exit I-15 at Riverdale and go east 0.6 mi to stop light at 900 W. Turn left onto 900 W and proceed north for 0.2 mi. (The Community Center will be on the left.)

Lunches are included in the seminar price. All lunches will include beverages and dessert.
