2016 September Newsletter

Hi Painter,

Thought for the Month: In the garden, Autumn is, indeed the crowning glory of the year, bringing us the fruition of months of thought and care and toil. And at no season, safe perhaps in Daffodil time, do we get such superb color effects as from August to November."-   Rose G. Kingsley,  1905

My goodness, summer is almost over, the kids are back in school, and I’m still trying to figure out what happened to the last three months.  Hope you all got more accomplished and had better control of your summer days than I seemed to do.  I feel the older I get the faster time flies.

A huge Thank You to Kristen for the wonderful rose mauling paint class she taught us at our Saturday Paint-in.  We had fun and I think everyone managed to get a lot accomplished.  I feel this class was a good preview and brush warm-up for our October Seminar with Lois.

We have our next Paint-in on Saturday, Sept 24th, and will be finishing up Kristen’s project and prepping our Tine’s for Oct so be sure and come and enjoy the morning with us.

I can’t tell you all Thank You enough for attending our classes and participating in our Chapter.  We would not be able to continue without your support.  A HUGE thanks to our Board for the extra time they take out of their family time to plan and prepare the activities for all of you to enjoy.  If you have served on a Board of any kind, you know what a big commitment it is.  Thanks to All.

HELP!  We are still looking for teachers and suggestions for Next Year.  Please check out the projects you would like to do and let Tirzah (Class Coordinator) know.  We know all of you are great painters and would be great teachers in the coming year.  If your projects take more than one Saturday, we can accommodate that also.  Get your creative hats on ladies and help us out.
Please enjoy the rest of your summer and stay safe over the upcoming Labor Day holiday.

Pat

October 12th - 14th (Wed – Fri) – Lois Mueller Seminar
November 26th (Saturday) – Father Christmas Plate – Eileen Barnard

2017 Paint-ins
The Board would like some input from the Chapter members about next year's Paint-ins and Seminars. What kind and style of projects would you like to paint? Who would you like as teachers? Would you willing to teach a class and if so, what would you teach? Please give this some serious thought. We are here for You. Contact any of the Board members with your ideas.

2016 Chapter Service Project
This year the Chapter will again have a donation box for the Food Bank where people can drop in spare change or a dollar or two. You'd be surprised how quickly little bits can add up. There is a lot of need, so we hope everyone will support this effort.

Chapter Board Meetings
The Chapter Board usually meets the first Friday of the month at 10 am at the Riverdale Senior Center, 4433 S. 900 W. in Riverdale. This is as open meeting and all members are welcome. If you have  ideas and/or issues that you would like the Chapter to address, please come and let the Board know. This is your Chapter and your input is important.

2017 Elections
It is time to be thinking about the Chapter officers for 2017. If you are willing to serve, please contact one of the Board member. We will also be contacting the membership during the next 2 months. The Chapter needs You, so please give serious thought about serving as an officer for 2017.

Raffles
This year we would like to ask all members to bring a NICE raffle item. You will receive two Christmas raffle tickets for your item. Painting supplies like palette paper, brushes, and tracing paper are always welcome as are nice wood or metal surfaces. Other items could include potted plants and candy. If you would like to receive it, it will probably make a good raffle item.

Christmas Raffle

This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having a special raffle. The gift basket includes a tin tea set make by the renowned Canadian tin maker Robert Faulkner. Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00. You do NOT have to be present to win.
