2016 October Newsletter

Hi Painter,

Just a quick note for our President Pat who's street was hit by the tornado. She was evacuated for a couple of days because of the downed power lines on her driveway and the surrounding area. Her home seems to be fine, but her car was damaged, the yard is a mess, and many of the neighbors around her sustained a lot of damage. She says it will take some time to get back to normal.

We hope you’re all looking forward to Lois Mueller Seminar this month. Lois sent her finished Tine' and those who attended the Paint-in last week got a change to see it. The paints and patterns are also here. If you haven't gotten your Tine' and/or pattern, please contact Tirzah (801-825-2660). The prep work only involves base coating with Forest Green and applying the pattern.

Chapter elections will be taking place soon, so please give serious thought about serving as an officer for 2017.

2016 Seminars and Paint-ins
October 12th - 14th (Wed – Fri) – Lois Mueller Seminar
November 26th (Saturday) – Father Christmas Plate – Eileen Barnard
December 3rd (Saturday) – Christmas Party

2017 Paint-ins
The Board would like some input from the Chapter members about next year's Paint-ins and Seminars. What kind and style of projects would you like to paint? Who would you like as teachers? Would you willing to teach a class and if so, what would you teach? Please give this some serious thought. We are here for You. Contact any of the Board members with your ideas.

2016 Chapter Service Project
This year the Chapter will again have a donation box for the Food Bank where people can drop in spare change or a dollar or two. You'd be surprised how quickly little bits can add up. There is a lot of need, so we hope everyone will support this effort.

2017 Elections
It is time to be thinking about the Chapter officers for 2017. If you are willing to serve, please contact one of the Board member. We will also be contacting the membership during the next 2 months. The Chapter needs You, so please give serious thought about serving as an officer for 2017.

Chapter Dues
Yes, it's that time of year again. I'm sure most of you have received notice from SDP about your national membership renewal with your last Decorative Painters magazine. National dues need to be postmarked before December 1st to avoid their $5 postage/handling fee.  (Pay SDP dues directly to the Society.)

It is not to early to pay your 2017 local dues ($15). Checks can be made out to Golden Spike Decorative Painters and mailed to the Chapterat 295 W Ctr Street, PO 302, Willard, UT 84340.

Raffles
This year we would like to ask all members to bring a NICE raffle item. You will receive two Christmas raffle tickets for your item. Painting supplies like palette paper, brushes, and tracing paper are always welcome as are nice wood or metal surfaces. Other items could include potted plants and candy. If you would like to receive it, it will probably make a good raffle item.

Christmas Raffle

This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having a special raffle. The gift basket includes a tin tea set make by the renowned Canadian tin maker Robert Faulkner. Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00. You do NOT have to be present to win.
