2011 December Newsletter


Dear Ladies:

First, I would like to thank the Board and Members for their participation in making this Chapter a success. We had some great Classes and two fantastic Seminars thanks to each of you.

Last months Raffle, a bag full of nice items furnished by Pat Reeder and was won by Tirzah.

In January, Wendy will be teaching her Valentine Plate. It is her own design. It’s getting late so please sign up a soon as possible.

The Christmas Party is December 10th. Please bring your Ornament for the exchange.

Congratulations to the new Officers for 2012. I look forward to seeing everyone next year as you past President and Board Member.

Inasmuch as this is my final newsletter I want to once again thank each of you and let you know how much I appreciate your friendship.

Wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season and a prosperous and healthy New Year.

Raffle Revision
Your 2012 Board has some new ideas about raffles for next year. The changes will be revealed at the Christmas Party and  the details found in the January newsletter. So stay tuned for more information.

Christmas Raffle
This year at our Christmas Party we will be having a special raffle. The chapter has purchased this beautiful painting by Karen Hubbard. Tickets will be on sale from now until the
drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00. You do NOT have to be present to win. (Note: the painting is 8" x 10" )

NOTE: November's Paint-in was the last chance  to purchase tickets for the Christmas Raffle.

The Party will be held at The Prairie Schooner restaurant (445 Park Avenue, Ogden, UT). We will have 'Looser' raffle drawings, the 'Christmas' raffle drawing, ornament exchange, some fun games, good food, and friends. So mark you calendars and plan on comming.

All meals are served with:
  Salad , Rolls, and Baked Potatoes.

Pinks:
   Light pink mix: Napthol Crimson, White, Turners Yellow 1:2:2
   Medium Pink mix: Napthol Crimson, White, Turner’s Yellow 1:2:1
   Dark pink mix: Napthol Crimson, White, Turners Yellow 2:2:1
Greens:
  Yellow Green
  Tree Frog or Vines
  Pine Green
Blues:
  Raindrop + White
  Raindrop
  Stillwater
Browns:
  Burnt Sienna + Turner’s Yellow
  Burnt Sienna
  Burnt Umber
Flesh:
  Mix Turners Yellow, White & a touch of Napthol Crimson
  Add more NC to darken, add more white to lighten.
  Use thinned Burnt Sienna to shade.
Carbon Black
Titanium White
Transparent Magenta


Prep Instructions:
Seal surface. Apply pattern.
1. Base large heart behind the children in dark pink mix. Float a very light scallop of thinned white around the edge.
2. Base girl’s dress and socks and two hearts on the rim in raindrop
3. Base boy’s pants in dark grey mix. Black + white
4. Base boy’s shirt in tree frog green or vines.
5. Base girl’s shoes and boy’s belt in burn sienna
6. Base flesh in medium flesh mix. (JoSonja has a flesh tone, but it is too light, if you use it add some yellow and red to it.)
7. Base the bead around the plate and letters in medium pink.
8. Base the small edge inside the bead in tree frog or vines.


The Paint-in will be held at the Westwood Village Clubhouse (1111 N. 2000 W., Farr West, UT).Take I-15 #346 and go north on 2000 W/UT-126 0.6 of mile. The Clubhouse is on the west side of the street with parking on the west side of the building.

Heidi England Seminar

Date:           March 15th-17th 9:00am - 5:00pm
Cost:           $215.00 (class fee, wooden table, photo/pattern packet, and lunch)
                   $250.00 (Non-Members)

                         $20.00 Noah's Ark Pull-toy (contact Tirzah is you are interested)

Note: Heidi will be bring the paints for the seminar. You will have to provide your own paint for the prep work.

Seminar:  (There is a limit of 25 people for this seminar.)  A $100 non-refundable deposit must be paid when you sign up to hold your place in the class and pay for the wood. The balance for the seminar must be paid when the pattern and wood is picked up.

The Seminar will be held at the Riverdale Community Center, 4360 S. Parker Drive in Riverdale.
Directions from the North: Exit I-15 at 31st street and turn east onto UT-79 for 0.3 miles to the stop light at UT-79 and Parker Drive. Turn right on Parker Drive and proceed 2.0 miles south. The Community Center will be on the left, just past the fire station.
Directions from the South: Exit I-15 at Riverdale and go east to the first stop light. Turn left onto S 1500 W and proceed north for .5 mi. (Note: S 1500 W turns right slightly and becomes Cozy Dale Dr.) At the traffic circle take the 1st exit onto W 400 S and go east. Proceed to next traffic circle and take the 2nd exit onto Parker Drive and go north. The Community Center will be on the right, just before the fire station.

Lunches are included in the seminar price. All lunches will include bottled water and dessert. Coffee and tea will be provided during the seminar.

Nancy welcomed and thanked everyone for coming inspite of the snowy weather, especially the ladies who traveled from the Salt Lake Lake area. Nancy announced Tirzah will be handing out the plates for the November 26th paint-in for those who purchased them.

She then turned the class over to Judy. The class ended at 8:00 pm.

Nancy reminded everyone to sign up for the Christmas lunch. She announced some of the classes for 2012. She went on to say the Chapter had a table set up in the back of the room with paints, mediums etc for sale and during the lunch break there would be a vote on the two changes to the Standing Rules.

She then turned the class over to Cheri. The class ended at 3:00 pm.
