Hello Ladies,
I am so excited about the Heidi England Seminar that is just around the corner. The piece is one of my favorites.  I can't wait to see you all and start painting again.  It has been way too long!!! It will be a lot of fun to hear what everyone has been doing.  See you soon!!!

Bird's Nest Gourd by Julie Grant and Cindy Pray

Cost:            $7.50 (class fee)

Palette: Americana
Light Buttermilk           Cranberry Wine
Buttermilk                    Midnight Green
Jade Green                 Raw Sienna
Light Avocado             Raw Umber   

Crackle Medium          

Prep Instructions:
Base coat with Light Avocado using a sea sponge. May take a couple of coats. Let dry. Apply Crackle Medium according to directions on bottle. The thicker the medium is applied, the larger the cracks. Let dry completely. Apply a top coat of Light Buttermilk + Buttermilk using a 1” flat brush. Fully load brush and apply with long sweeping strokes. It is important to avoid overlapping or re-stroking an area. The topcoat will begin to crack as it dries. When thoroughly dry apply pattern around gourd, walking around a little at a time.

The Paint-in will be held at the Westwood Village Clubhouse (1111 N. 2000 W., Farr West, UT).Take I-15 #346 and go north on 2000 W/UT-126 0.6 of mile. The Clubhouse is on the west side of the street with parking on the west side of the building.

Prep Instructions:
Base coat with Antique White. Rim of tray is painted Cocoa. Dry. Apply pattern.

Heidi England Seminar
Fire Screen

Date:             September 29th thru October 1st  
Cost:             Members $275                        
                      Non-Members $300
Cost includes wood for the Fire Screen, paints, pictures, instructions, lunches, etc.

Seminar: (There is a limit of 20 people for this seminar.) A $50 non-refundable deposit must be paid by August 29th to hold your place in the class. The balance for the seminar must be paid when the patterns and wood are picked up. All checks should be made out to Golden Spike Decorative Painters and mailed to 116 W 600 N, Clearfield Utah 84015.





Standup Village
Heidi has standup villages available that are based on the fire screen. They come in 3 sizes (16" 12" and 6") ranging in price from $50 to $6. If you are interested in them please contact Tirzah (801-336-7900) ASAP so they can be ordered. 

The Seminar will be held at the Riverdale Senior Center 4433 S. 900 W. in Riverdale. Directions: Exit I-15 at Riverdale and go east 0.6 mi to stop light at 900 W. Turn left onto 900 W and proceed north for 0.2 mi. (The Community Center will be on the left.)

Lunches are included in the seminar price. All lunches will include beverages and dessert.

Spotlight on Local and Visiting Artists

Juanita Denton
Watercolor Peonies

Juanita developed her love of Art when she received her first box of crayons. She has worked in the Decorative Arts since 1978. As a self-developed artist, she began working in watercolors in 1989.


She is a two-star member of the Utah Watercolor Society where she helps to put on workshops. She has shown her work in the 2001 Western Federation of Watercolor Societies show held in Park City, Utah.

Her fine art watercolors can be found in private collections in Kansas, Nevada, Texas, and Utah.

She also earned her CDA from the Society of Decorative Painters, has published a number of decorative painting books and has taught classes in both watercolors and acrylics.
