Ladies,
We enjoyed a wonderful class etching on glass with Terry Pulver. Terry provided the class with various stencil patterns. We used an etching cream (you don't even use a paint brush, paint or palette paper) to etch the glass. The glass pieces turned out beautiful and everyone there was happy with their new treasures. Thanks Terry! You did a great class as always.
Helen Mahoney will be teaching a Rosemary West nativity scene on a plate the 24th of November. It's not to late to sign up. Give one of the Board a call. We'd love to see you.
The Christmas party is coming up fast, December 8th at 3 pm at Jeremiah's Restaurant on 12th Street. Check the newsletter for the dinner choices. Call Nancy Coley at 801-698-0418 to sign up. Hope to see you there!

2019 Paint-ins
The Board would like some input from the Chapter members about next year's Paint-ins and Seminars. What kind and style of projects would you like to paint? Who would you like as teachers? Would you willing to teach a class and if so, what would you teach? Please give this some serious thought. We are here for You. Contact any of the Board members with your ideas.
2018 Chapter Service Project
This year the Chapter will be supporting the battered woman's shelter, Safe Harbor. The shelter accepts clothing, toiletries and money donations. The Chapter will collect money for the shelter at each paint-in and seminar and you can give other items to Helen, who will take them to the shelter. We hope everyone will support this effort.

Yes,
it's that time of year again. I'm sure most of you have received
notice from SDP about your national membership renewal with your last
Decorative Painters magazine.
National
dues need to be postmarked before
December 1st
to
avoid their $5 postage/handling fee. (Pay SDP dues directly to the
Society.)
It
is not to early to pay your 2019 local dues ($15). Checks can be made
out to Golden Spike Decorative Painters and mailed to the Chapter at
295
W Ctr Street, PO 302, Willard, UT 84340.
This year we would like to ask all members to bring a NICE raffle item. You will receive two Christmas raffle tickets for your item. Painting supplies like palette paper, brushes, and tracing paper are always welcome as are nice wood or metal surfaces. Other items could include potted plants and candy. If you would like to receive it, it will probably make a good raffle item.
Christmas Raffles
This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having special raffle. It will be an signed original bentwood box by John Dunn generously donated to the Chapter by Carol Hillier. The Decorative Painting world lost one of the most well known folk artists with the death of John Dunn last year. John painted in the Peter Ompir Style as well as his own style. His works can be found in museums, is highly prized buy collectors.

Prep Instructions:
Base plate with Stillwater adding a little All Purpose Sealer to the first coat. Best use a roller so you will have a little texture. Dry. Apply pattern leaving off tiny stars and overstrokes on clothing.
Use wisk or rake brush to apply texture paste to stable roof and walls to resemble rough wood. When dry, drybrush with (1)Brown Earth (2)Gold Oxide (3)Marigold (4)Marigold + Yellow Deep + a touch of Titanium White (5)Yellow Orange.
Base all faces and hands with flesh mixture: Titanium + Gold Oxide + a touch of Napthol Red Light (or use a premade flesh color). Make enough to save for later.
Base Tulips Napthol Crimson.
Base Leaves and stems Pine Green + Shamrock.
The Paint-in will be held at the Westwood Village Clubhouse (1111 N. 2000 W., Farr West, UT).Take I-15 #346 and go north on 2000 W/UT-126 0.6 of mile. The Clubhouse is on the west side of the street with parking on the west side of the building.

We will have the John Dunn bentwood box drawing as well as the 'Looser' raffle drawing and door prizes for those in attendance. Instead of an ornament exchange, this year we will have a "White Elephant" exchange. So mark you calendars and plan on coming to enjoy good friends and good food.
