Painters
– MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS!
Pat ReederThe greatest gifts you can give someone are your time, your love, and your attention.
Dearest
Golden Spike Painters, I personally say thanks to each and every one
of you for all your support to myself and the Golden Spike Chapter
the last two years as I acted as your Chapter President. I could not
have accomplished anything without the tremendous help and support
from my Board Officers and all you painters. I was rewarded with the
most wonderful, lovely, and talented ladies to work this last two
years and has truly been an honor to be part of this Chapter. A
special Thanks again to Nancy, Lydia, Wendy, Gloria, Terry, Tirzah,
and Eileen, your 2016 and 2107 Board. Please continue to support your
new 2018 Board Officers. You have some wonderful ladies who will do
a superb job for the coming year.
We have
come up with an exceptional lineup for next year. Please be sure and
check the schedule and support our teachers. Three seminars are
planned with some new techniques, and many real fun classes. We
still have a few openings for our monthly paint-ins so if you would
like to teach a class, please get hold of Tirzah and get on our
schedule.
I send
each of you a warm hug and Wish you a Very Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year. Enjoy the holidays with your families and friends and
cherish every minute you can with your loved ones. Forget your
troubles on Dec 25th and remember to share the love in your heart.
Don’t forget to SMILE and enjoy life.

2018 Paint-ins
The Board would like some input from the Chapter members about next year's Paint-ins and Seminars. What kind and style of projects would you like to paint? Who would you like as teachers? Would you willing to teach a class and if so, what would you teach? Please give this some serious thought. We are here for You. Contact any of the Board members with your ideas.
2017 Chapter Service Project
Chapter Dues
Raffles
This year the Chapter will be supporting the Ogden Youth Futures, located at 2760 Adams Ave in Ogden. This community project provides shelter for homeless teens ages 12 to 18.The shelter accepts clothing, toiletries and money donations. The Chapter will collect money for the shelter at each paint-in and seminar. There is a lot of kids in need, so we hope everyone will support this effort.
Chapter Dues
Yes, it's that time of year again. I'm sure most of you have received notice from SDP about your national membership renewal with your last Decorative Painters magazine. National dues need to be postmarked before December 1st to avoid their $5 postage/handling fee. (Pay SDP dues directly to the Society.)
It is not to early to pay your 2017 local dues ($15). Checks can be made out to Golden Spike Decorative Painters and mailed to the Chapter 295 W Ctr Street, PO 302, Willard, UT 84340.
Raffles
This year we would like to ask all members to bring a NICE raffle item. You will receive two Christmas raffle tickets for your item. Painting supplies like palette paper, brushes, and tracing paper are always welcome as are nice wood or metal surfaces. Other items could include potted plants and candy. If you would like to receive it, it will probably make a good raffle item.
Christmas Raffles
This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having special raffles. There will be an original watercolor by Juanita Denton and an alder wood Norwegian Head Dress storage box filled with painting supplies. Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00. You do NOT have to be present to win.

Rosemaling Coast to Coast
Save the date: June 26-28, 2018 (Tuesday-Thursday)
An association entitled "Rosemaling Coast to Coast” has been formed to plan and execute a convention by the same name. We are extending an invitation to you to become a member of the association and assist in making this, our first rosemaling convention in Decorah, Iowa a huge success.
The venue will be Luther College, with everything in a very compact area. We have reserved a dorm that holds 250 people. Across the street from the dorm is the Main Building, which has 12 classrooms. Across the street from the Main Building is the Centennial Union where the vendors will be. Our breakfast and lunch will be served in this building, as will one special evening event. The rooms and meals will be very reasonably priced.
One evening we will have a special event at Vesterheim, "A Night at the Museum." During this evening we can view the 2018 National Exhibition of Folk Art in the Norwegian Tradition and tour the museum itself. It will be a unique event.
We will keep you updated on what is happening as we progress toward the convention. We will need many volunteers, before, during, and after the event. We will be providing a list of areas of tasks so you can select one or two that you would like to become involved with.
The first thing you need to do is become a member of "Rosemaling Coast to Coast". We already have over 20 members from the West Coast. To become a member send $15 with your name, address, phone numbers, and email address to Ruth Green, 309 1st Street, Decorah, IA 52101. Make checks payable to Rosemaling Coast to Coast. Membership is from the date you sign up through the first convention year of 2018.
The email address is very important. We would prefer to contact you using that method, because it would be much less expensive to use email than USPS for keeping you up to date. (If you do not have email, we will then mail information to you.) For additional information, please contact: Lois Mueller, nordic@mhtc.net or Betty Dowe, bettydowe@harmonytel.net
