2018 September Newsletter
Hello Ladies,
I hope everyone had a great summer.
Fall is fast approaching and we will have Linda Sharp from Las Vegas to start our fall season with a two project Seminar in September. The first project she will be teaching is a technique called mudding. The mudding is done on a wood plate, (plate included in the seminar fee). It is a very pretty piece and pictures do not do it justice. The second project is a Jacobean design done on a bentwood box, (provided by you). The box may be round, square, oval, or any other shape you wish. If you have not signed up, I encourage you to do so.
Terry Pulver will follow in October with a glass etching class and Helen Mahoney will teach a Christmas plate in November.
Our end of year Christmas party is also coming up, (time and place for the party will be posted in the newsletter). Be sure to sign up for a great dinner, fun and games. This year's raffle is a valuable John Dunn Bentwood box. So plan on joining us for a good time.
Also a reminder that we will be voting for 2019 Chapter officers at the September Seminar. If you will not be attending, please vote by responding to the e-mail that will be sent the middle of the month.
Aloha,
Lydia

2019 Paint-ins
The Board would like some input from the Chapter members about next year's Paint-ins and Seminars. What kind and style of projects would you like to paint? Who would you like as teachers? Would you willing to teach a class and if so, what would you teach? Please give this some serious thought. We are here for You. Contact any of the Board members with your ideas.
2018 Chapter Service Project
This year the Chapter will be supporting the battered woman's shelter, Safe Harbor. The shelter accepts clothing, toiletries and money donations. The Chapter will collect money for the shelter at each paint-in and seminar and you can give other items to Helen, who will take them to the shelter. We hope everyone will support this effort.
Raffles
This year we would like to ask all members to bring a NICE raffle item. You will receive two Christmas raffle tickets for your item. Painting supplies like palette paper, brushes, and tracing paper are always welcome as are nice wood or metal surfaces. Other items could include potted plants and candy. If you would like to receive it, it will probably make a good raffle item.
Christmas Raffles
This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having special raffle. It will be an signed original bentwood box by John Dunn generously donated to the Chapter by Carol Hillier. The Decorative Painting world lost one of the most well known folk artists with the death of John Dunn last year. John painted in the Peter Ompir Style as well as his own style. His works can be found in museums, is highly prized buy collectors, and commands high prices.
This year's winner will be lucky indeed.
Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket. You do NOT have to be present to win.
