Happy St. Patrick's Day Everone,

This month we will be voting on GSDP's revised Standing Rules and Bylaws. The revised documents have been posted to the GSDP web site. We need all members to review these documents. A Vote of the membership to accept the revisions is needed to make them official. That vote will take place at the Paint-in meeting in March. We will also be send out an electronic ballot for those who cannot attend the March Paint-in.

We have an exciting year ahead planned for Golden Spike Decorative Painters. In March Glenna Nielson will be teaching the Egg Meister's Plate. For those who missed paint this piece with Tirzah several years ago, here is another chance. Bill Bayer will be coming for a spring seminar in April and Michele Walton for a fall seminar in October. Maxine Thomas has also offered to teach a paint-in in May. We have several other people lined up and are working on filling the schedule, so keep checking the newsletter for updates.

no. 6/0 liner                  Sponge
no. 4 liner                     Crackle Medium
no. 6 filbert                   Glazing Medium
no. 12 flat shader
3/4” flat glaze

Prep:

Sand plate. Base coat entire plate with Cashmere. Dry. Base coat petals with transparent Oakmoss, and while still wet, lighty sponge over area with a wet sponge to blend the colors. Lightly wash center of plate with Cashmere, then pick up some Warm White and slip-slap over area. Soften color to edges with damp sponge. Dry. Trace entire pattern onto plate, except for the center of the egg details. Basecoat center of egg with three coats of Smoked Pearl. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next coat. Once the third coat is dry, apply a coat of Crackle Medium over the area and allow to air dry---Surface cracks will appear as the medium dries. Once completely dry trace center egg details onto the egg.

The Paint-in will be held at the Westwood Village Clubhouse (1111 N. 2000 W., Farr West, UT).Take I-15 #346 and go north on 2000 W/UT-126 0.6 of mile. The Clubhouse is on the west side of the street with parking on the west side of the building.

April Bill Bayer Seminar

Bill “Ridley” Bayer began painting as a hobby in 1988. The following year he studied with Bob Ross and became a certified instructor of Bob’s wet on wet technique. He has since studied with many other well know artists developing his own style of painting. Bill has published five instructional books and three DVD's titled "Down Roads... Less Traveled" showcasing his talents. Bill uses his middle name “Ridley” as his signature. Ridley was also his grandfather’s name and Bill signs his paintings in “Paps” honor. Bill and his wife Fran live in St. Louis Mo and many of Bill’s compositions are inspired by the beautiful countryside surrounding their home. Bill paints in oils, acrylic and watercolor and travels across the country teaching the techniques he has learned.
