2023 September Newsletter
Hello ladies,
Last month Laura Clegg came up and taught us a Betty Caithness pattern, the Sunflower and Bee Box. It was a really good project and we learned a new way of putting an under-pattern on our wood piece. It turned out really great as did the Sunflowers and adorable bees. If you missed the Paint-in, you missed a great class. Thanks Laura!!!
Terry
will teach an Autumn bucket in September. Our seminar with Michele
is only a month and a half away. I know we have all been waiting to
see what the project will be. Michele has promised us that she will
send us a picture of the project within the next two weeks. We will
update the newsletter with the picture as sooon as we get it and I
will notify everyone with a text.
Looking forward to seeing you at the paint-ins and seminars.

Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket. You do NOT have to be present to win.
2024 Elections
GSDP will vote on new officers this fall. We have not had elections since Covid and the current officers were appointed at the GSDP meeting in January and given the task of making the transition to an independent organization after National closed it's doors. That task is completed, and the appointed officers have taken us through the first half a year. If Golden Spike Decorative Painters is to continue, we need your help. Please consider running for the Board for 2024. All positions are open, President, 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, Newsletter editor, and Seminar/Paint-in coordinator. If you are willing to run, you may contact any Board member.
2024 Paint-ins and Seminars
The Board would like some input from our members about next year's Paint-ins and Seminars. What kind and style of projects would you like to paint? Who would you like as teachers? Would you willing to teach a class and if so, what would you teach? Please give this some serious thought. We are here for You. Contact any Board member with your ideas.

Place small puddles of Honey Brown, Traditional Burnt Umber, Burnt Umber, dark Green, Oxblood and Diox Purple on your palette and a large puddle of Glazing Medium. Dress your wash brush in glazing medium. Sideload into Honey Brown and slip-slap lightly over the bucket, especially in the center area. With a dirty brush, side load into Traditional Burnt Umber and lay some color here and there, especially at the top and bottom of the piece. Repeat with dark Green and Burnt Umber.
Clean brush and redress with glazing medium. Pick up Diox Purple and tap here and there, repeat with Oxblood.
Colors should be soft and blended. Use damp (not wet) sponge to blend if necessary. Dry.
Repeat the process until you have the results you desire. Dry over night.
When totally dry, lightly coat with glazing medium to seal and protect the background. Dry completely again and then transfer the pattern.
