Whoever coined the phrase March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb clearly did not reside in Utah. It is my hope that we can stay warm for our April Seminar with
Bobbie
Takashima! If you have not heard about our upcoming seminar, please
give us
a
call so we can share the details with you.
I
am impressed with how many collective years everyone has in painting
experience
and
I am always excited when I can find something that many of you have
never
painted.
We on the board are working hard to find creative opportunities and I
am very
proud
of their hard work. Their hard work is adding some new techniques to
my paint
tool
box and hopefully yours as well.
This
year we started off with learning a Rogland Rosemaling design taught
by Tirzah,
then
a beginners class using a Sandy LeFlore design that mimicked cross
stitch and
Terry
taught a bunny using a watercolor effect. Later in the
year we
will
continue with learning some interesting and unique techniques. I am
excited for our
upcoming
classes and many thanks to those who have committed to teach one at
one
of
our paint-ins.
My challenge and curiosity is how are you growing your art? What are you learning or
painting?
Or has your craft expanded into other areas? We would love to hear
and take
inspiration
from our fellow painters or to help you become reinspired.
If any of you are interested in holding a board position, have feedback, ideas or
questions,
please contact me (801) 391-3556 or leeanngossett@gmail.com.

Raffles
This year we would like to ask our members to bring a NICE raffle item or two. Painting supplies like palette paper, brushes, and tracing paper are always welcome as are nice small or medium sized wood or metal surfaces. Other items could include potted plants and painting books. If you would like to receive it, it will probably make a good raffle item. If you have some gently used brushes, they would also be welcome to have on hand for beginners.
Christmas Raffles
This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having a very special raffle. It is a beautiful box painted by Gayle Oram. Gayle is internationally recognized as a rosemaling painter and has been awarded a Gold Medal in Rosemaling from Vestereim. Her works are highly prized by all lovers of Norwegian Rosemaling and are today's and tomorrow's collectables.
Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket. You do NOT have to be present to win.

I think we should do the basecoating in class. I will have all of the colors available for use. If you have them, you can bring your own if you want. The colors for basecoating are Cad Yellow, Tangelo Orange, Burnt Orange, Bright Orange, Burnt Umber, Evergreen, Black. (I don't have a lot of Tangelo Orange so if you have that, bring it.)
You can dry brush the screen area with Black to get rid of the shine before class. That way it will be dry and ready to do the rest of the prep.
The Paint-in will be held at the Westwood Village Clubhouse (1111 N. 2000 W., Farr West, UT).Take I-15 #346 and go north on 2000 W/UT-126 0.6 of mile. The Clubhouse is on the west side of the street with parking on the west side of the building.
