When the board received the sad news of Bobbie Takashima’s family members passing, it caused us to stop and reflect. Over the past few years, we have lost several of our dear members. We as a Board have talked about the importance of knowing how to support our members and having awareness if a member is ill or experiencing challenges. As a result of these identified concerns, we appointed Ms. Nancy Litz and Ms. Lori Jennings as our Hospitality officers as an additional duty to being vice presidents. In addition to informing the Hospitality officers of any challenges, we would also like to acknowledge your birthday. We have created an opportunity for you to list your birthday month and date on our membership application and the annual Personal Injury Waiver. We continue to explore various ways to ensure that you feel seen, heard, valued and loved by our paint family. Please reach out if there is anything that we can do to support you.
We are awaiting the confirmation of dates for our fall seminar and we are very excited for this one. If you are scheduled to teach, we will reach out for finalization after the confirmation of the teacher’s schedule. We have also brainstormed some ideas for calendar year 2025. I’m really excited with the ideas that were brought forth and we have confirmed and scheduled a spring seminar. This is a seminar that you won’t want to miss. Not only is it beautiful but it will be a unique and treasured statement piece. We are always happy to hear your ideas and of course receive your instruction. There are so many great ideas and projects out there whether old or new and we always love to learn.
This month of May we will learn a new technique of how to paint on a screen. Wendy will teach and we are excited to learn from such a talented painter. We are also looking forward to June with a potluck picnic and a patriotic whirligig paint-in. Please make sure you sign up for classes and a food item so we can ensure effective planning.
Lastly, I want to thank each and everyone of you for being part of an amazing club that continues to inspire creativity, learning, fostering friendships, connection and inclusivity.
I look forward to seeing you at our paint-ins and receiving your feedback.
Here’s to painting your world with an unlimited palette,

GSDP Paint-ins will now be the third Saturday of the month.

Misc Supplies:
I think we should do the basecoating in class. I will have all of the colors available for use. If you have them, you can bring your own if you want. The colors for basecoating are Cad Yellow, Tangelo Orange, Burnt Orange, Bright Orange, Burnt Umber, Evergreen, Black. (I don't have a lot of Tangelo Orange so if you have that, bring it.)
You can dry brush the screen area with Black to get rid of the shine before class. That way it will be dry and ready to do the rest of the prep.
Don't forget to sign up for a potluck item when you sign up for the class.
