2026 February Newsletter

 LeeAnn Washatka, President

As we move out of January and transition into February, the energy of the new year begins to settle in. The rush of resolutions has quieted, and what remains is often more meaningful; how we choose to show up day by day. While this time of year is traditionally focused on resolutions, I’ve learned that I don’t tend to make them in the usual way. Instead, I try to continue living my values, staying aligned with my goals, and making thoughtful adjustments when needed. For me, it’s about intention and consistency rather than starting over.

This mindset feels especially relevant as we continue into our painting year. With February comes a sense of forward motion, taking what we envisioned at the start of the year and putting it into practice. I’m genuinely excited about where we’re headed creatively and about stepping up to offer more inspired, intentional projects, many of which have come directly from your feedback and requests.

We had such a great time at the gourd class, learning new wood-burning techniques, and using different tips to add depth and texture to our work. Experiences like that remind me how valuable it is to learn together and to keep expanding our creative skill sets. Your curiosity and willingness to try something new continue to shape the direction of our classes.

As we move further into the year, you’ll see more projects designed to inspire growth, creativity, and confidence. Projects that challenge us just enough while still being fun and rewarding. Thank you for sharing your ideas, your interests, and your enthusiasm; they truly guide what we create together.

I’m looking forward to the months ahead as we continue to learn, paint, and connect. Here’s to a February filled with creativity, momentum, and the joy of making something meaningful together.

Warmly, LeeAnn

President, Golden Spike Decorative Painters

 2026 January Newsletter

LeeAnn Washatka, President

What a whirlwind 2025 has been! As the year ended, we were able to pause, reflect, and celebrate together with a beautiful Christmas and fellowship-filled gathering at our annual holiday party and cherished year-end tradition. While our group was smaller this year, the sense of connection, laughter, and shared joy was as strong as ever. We enjoyed good conversation, meaningful fellowship, and of course our classic White Elephant exchange—where Bob Ross gifts once again made a strong showing.

Moments like these are a reminder of what makes our group so special. It’s not just the projects we paint, but the relationships we build, the encouragement we offer one another, and the space we create to relax, laugh, and paint together. Whether you’ve been with us for years or joined more recently, your presence truly matters.

I also want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to each of you for allowing me to serve as your president for the past two years. It has been an absolute privilege to lead such a talented and supportive group. To my surprise and delight, many of you shared that you enjoyed my tenure enough to ask me to continue in this role. I’m honored by your trust and confidence, and I’m genuinely excited to serve again.

Looking ahead to 2026, I couldn’t be more enthusiastic. We already have some incredible projects lined up, and we have been listening closely to your feedback about the styles, techniques, and themes you’d like to explore. I truly believe that this year’s lineup will not only reflect your input but will more than exceed your expectations. Our goal remains the same: to offer meaningful, engaging, and enjoyable painting experiences that inspire creativity while fostering connection and community.

As we move into the new year, I encourage everyone to participate when you can, invite friends who may be interested, and continue sharing ideas and feedback. This group thrives because of your involvement, enthusiasm, and willingness to show up—both for the art and for one another.

I’m incredibly excited for what 2026 has in store and look forward to another year of creativity, growth, and shared experiences. I hope to see each of you throughout the year, brush in hand, creating something beautiful together.

We also want to thank Sandy Mctier for her generous donation of patterns and stencils. See our links page for a direct link to her web page.

My brush is ready,

LeeAnn Washatka
