2016 April Newsletter

Hi Painters,

The beautiful spring came; and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also.” Harriet Ann Jacobs

There will be a short business meeting preceding the Seminar. We will be discussing proposed changes to the Chapter By-Laws and Standing Rules. Please review the Bylaws/Standing Rules pages of the blog. The changes will be noted in red italics.

Gee, not sure if I should wish everyone a Happy Spring or Merry Christmas today as I sit and look out my window at the snow accumulating on the spring flowers.

Hope you all had an incredible Easter Holiday with your families or enjoyed a nice quiet day of rest on the beautiful sunny spring day. Myself, I was nursing a case of bronchitis again, the after affects from Influenza B. Not a fun week in bed but getting better each day. Sure don’t want it again and hoping you all out there do not reap the benefits of someone sharing with you.

I missed Nancy’s class but heard from Sandy Reeder it was awesome, a lot of fun, and many ladies were there to enjoy it. Nancy is a beautiful painter and I’m sure from my experience of her past classes she did a super job teaching you to paint that gorgeous tray. Thanks to all the ladies who attended and supported the chapter. Your attendance is what keeps our Chapter going and encourages teachers to help us with classes.

I hope you’re all looking forward to Heidi’s class next month. I know I am. Excited to feel better enough this week to get my prep work done on my table and get started on the fun pattern. We STILL HAVE SLOTS OPEN IN HEIDI’S CLASS. Please invite your friends and let’s fill up this class if possible. Thanks to Bryon, our wood guy, these tables are beautiful will be an heirloom for sure.

Check the Chapter newsletter for upcoming classes and be sure to sign up. They will be great.

In July we will be doing a community project making fleece throws for the George B. Whalen Nursing home vets. Please find some material and come on Saturday, July 23rd and tie lap throws. More information will be forth coming on this event.

Notice: Hancock Fabrics is going out of business and has a big sale on fleece. It only takes a yard and half of fleece fabric per lap throw. So now would be a good time to pick up some for the July project.

Enjoy your Spring and will see you at Heidi’s class.

2016 Chapter Service Project
This year the Chapter will again have a donation box for the Food Bank where people can drop in spare change or a dollar or two. You'd be surprised how quickly little bits can add up. There is a lot of need, so we hope everyone will support this effort.

Chapter Board Meetings
The Chapter Board meets the first Friday of the month at 10 am at the Riverdale Senior Center, 4433 S. 900 W. in Riverdale. This is as open meeting and all members are welcome. If you have  ideas and/or issues that you would like the Chapter to address, please come and let the Board know. This is your Chapter and your input is important.

Raffles
This year we would like to ask all members to bring a NICE raffle item. You will receive two Christmas raffle tickets for your item. Painting supplies like palette paper, brushes, and tracing paper are always welcome as are nice wood or metal surfaces. Other items could include potted plants and candy. If you would like to receive it, it will probably make a good raffle item.

Christmas Raffle

This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having a special raffle. The gift basket includes a tin tea set make by the renowned Canadian tin maker Robert Faulkner. Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00. You do NOT have to be present to win.

April Business Meeting
There will be a short business meeting preceding the Paint-in. We will be discussing proposed changes to the Chapter By-Laws and Standing Rules. Please review the Bylaws/Standing Rules pages of the blog. The changes will be noted in red italics.
