 2024 March Newsletter

From the Office of the President:

Mother nature is beginning to show us her artist palette with only 19 days before spring. Flower bulbs are beginning to awaken and sprout, birds are singing while nest making and our weather is becoming warmer.

I feel like one of the flower bulbs who enjoys the sunshine and becomes more willing
and adventurous to attend events outside of my warm house as spring arrives.

We had seven brave souls who ventured out and took a beginner’s class with us in
February. We painted a Spring Needle Point Sampler. We also had several folks who
attended and provided moral support to our new students. Everyone walked out with a
beautiful masterpiece. (see Beginner Class Photo's below).

We gained two new members from the beginner’s class. Let’s extend a warm welcome
to Ms. Diane and Ms. Maryann. Ms. Diane is an accomplished oil painter and Ms.
Maryann creates beautiful wire wrapped pendants.

As our club continues to grow, we are looking forward to utilizing your unique talents.
We are always accepting new teachers and are currently seeking to fill two board seats. We need a secretary as Ms. Lydia will be unable to fulfil this role due to an injury and a
hospitality officer which is a new position.

If any of you are interested in holding a board position, have feedback, ideas or
questions, please contact me (801) 391-3556 or leeanngossett@gmail.com.

Be your own masterpiece,

Leeann Washatka, President

Raffles

This year we would like to ask our members to bring a NICE raffle item or two. Painting supplies like palette paper, brushes, and tracing paper are always welcome as are nice small or medium sized wood or metal surfaces. Other items could include potted plants and painting books. If you would like to receive it, it will probably make a good raffle item. If you have some gently used brushes, they would also be welcome to have on hand for beginners.

Christmas Raffles

This year at our Christmas Party we will again be having a very special raffle. It is a beautiful box painted by Gayle Oram. Gayle is internationally recognized as a rosemaling painter and has been awarded a Gold Medal in Rosemaling from Vestereim. Her works are highly prized by all lovers of Norwegian Rosemaling and are today's and tomorrow's collectables.

Tickets will be on sale from now until the drawing at the party. The cost is $1.00 per ticket. You do NOT have to be present to win.
