 2023 June Newsletter

Hi ladies,

Its hard to believe that it is June aready. What a crazy year!

Last month we had a wonderful Paint-in with Maxine Thomas and the cute Roly-Poly Santa. What a fun class. We had a wonderful turn out and most people got their piece done. Eveyone seemed to have a great time. Thanks a bunch Maxine for teaching.

We have several more fun paint-in's scheduled for the summer. Pat will teach her cute Dandy Lion, Shaunna a Sunflower, and Laura Clegg a Sunflower and Bee Box.

This fall Terry will teach an Autumn bucket and we will have a long awaited seminar with Michele Walton. She is designing a piece especially for our group, so we a looking forward to see what she comes up with. We will let you know the exact date and what the piece will be as soon as we have that information, so keep checking the newsletter.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at our paint-ins and seminars,

Terry

Basecoat with White and light Blue for sky. You can put clouds lightly if you want. I added a bit of White and Ultramarine Blue to darken the bottom. I also made it messy to show texture. We will put a bit of shadow under the lion when we are finished. You can soften your background with a soft dry brush. I also took a bit of Yellow Deep with White and added a bit in the sky around where the loin's head would be, like a reflection. Dry. Put on your pattern.

Base paint canvas in Blue Chiffon. Let dry. Fully load stipple brush with Blue Chiffon and begin stippling. Pick up Avocado Dip or Hi-Lite Flesh on part of brush and blend on palette. Begin stippling into the Blue Chiffon. Additional colors will be added one at a time and stippled the same way, working from the lighter values to the medium and then the darker values. The colors used are Blue Chiffon, Hi-Lite Flesh, Winter Blue, Avocado Dip, Antique Green, and Plantation Pine. A touch of Cadmiun Yellow or Citron Green is a nice touch. Each canvas should look different, but have the same colors in common.

When dry, tape off the stripes. Be sure the stripe bends around the canvas. They are stippled using Plantation Pin, Antique Green and Avocado Green. Add a touch of True Red. Remove tape as soon as the stripe is painted.
